What changes has the design of Windows made?

Despite the constant development of new software and operating system updates, Windows could not leave behind the design of its interface, it wasn't until the Windows 8 release that the company has decided to make a slight change to the design of its system, eliminating its popular start menu which is located at the bottom left of the start bar, giving it a slightly more modern and even futuristic look.

The Windows 10 menu, compared to its previous versions, offers a wide customization for its users, who will be able to modify options such as, change its size or colors through a diverse color palette.

How to resize the menu

The Windows 10 start menu by default takes up half of the screen of your computer, to change its size follow the steps below

  1. Open the start menu doing click on the icon at the bottom left or by pressing the Windows button on the keyboard
  2. Move the cursor to the top right corner of the menu click and hold when it changes shape into a double arrow
  3. Drag it up or down to resize the menu according to your preferences.

Change the menu colors

If you want to change the color of the Windows 10 menu you will have to go to the computer settings, then select the Personalization option and then in the colors, choose the color you want for the start menu, or you can also allow to Windows to choose from automatically the most suitable color, based on the desktop background.


Lock and unlock apps from the menu

To be able to perform this function, you will only have to find the application you want to block, right-click and choose the option “Add to start” in so that the application appears on the right side of the Windows start menu.


Customize icons and boxes in the menu

Applications and mosaics will be sorted automatically, assigning them the largest size and placing them first more frequent applications and those less used. If you want to configure the order and size of these applications, please follow the steps below:

  2. Right-click on the application or tile you want to change and choose the option "Resize"
